Experiencing immersive fear can be one of the most powerful feelings you can get in larps. However, succesfully creating such experiences for the players in a safe way can sometimes be very tricky. In "Dreams and Nightmares" we dive into what makes a good and immersive horror larp and learn many tips and tricks for creating such games. The program uses as a reference and example material from a dream themed Finnish horror larp campaign "Dreamwalk" as well as from many other Finnish horror larps.
"Dreams and nightmares" is the second part in the "It is safe to fear" series that started in Ropecon 2025. No prior participation in the series is required to follow this program.
Valtteri Niskavaara has decades of experience in organizing horror larps (among others) and in this program he shares some of the observations and practices he has learned during his years of giving nightmares to the characters of his players (in a fun and safe way).
