The October Revolution of 1917 caused significant change in the Russian society and culture. The impact also extended to the Russian art scene. Many ideologically minded artists wished to create a new art form that would serve the goals of the revolution and facilitate the creation of a new utopian society. In this presentation, a researcher of Soviet visual culture describes the ideological motivations and practices of the revolutionary artists dreaming of a socialist utopia.
