Ludus = Play, game, playful love Soma = The lived body and the object body together form the "soma" Duso = Developing Understanding of Self and Others

This lecture shortly introduces the conceptual and experiential foundations of the Ludusoma philosophy and workshop format: a fusion of play, embodied and somatic movement and awareness practices, and various reflective approaches. Rather than guiding participants through exercises, this session unpacks the underlying ideas and methods that shape this embodied, playful approach to self-inquiry and consciousness exploration.

Ludusoma is a philosophy, a principle of practice, and a type of workshop that has been active since 2019. The lecture briefly presents the “new worlds” that emerge at the interface of existing spheres: meditation, play, games, and playfulness. It goes through the key features and structure of Ludusoma workshops held since 2019.

Roleplaying and LARP are seen as modalities of the larger world of play, playfulness and games in which the body is present in various ways. Likewise, different meditative and body-awareness traditions – both Eastern and Western – construct their own distinctive conceptions of the body and of bodily presence. Meditation and play are linked by their internal and immediate meaning, their autotelic quality, and the fact that they occur outside instrumental or goal-oriented space. Yet they remain distinct worlds, often far apart. Ludusoma is an attempt to bring these real spheres into productive contact – to create new worlds at their border zones, both in theory and in practice.

Intended for anyone curious about the interfaces between games, consciousness, and embodied practice, this lecture opens a theoretical window into the Ludusoma method and its capacity to reveal new possible worlds.
