Mad Kings and Wicked Emperors: Telling Stories about Tyrants

Tyrants make good villains. From conniving viziers to raging warlords, some of our favorite stories feature rulers with too much power and too few morals. Many of the tropes and concepts that define the figure of the tyrant have their roots in ancient history.
