The Lady Strangford Emeralds

Many years ago, Lord Strangford famously ordered a lovely necklace for his lovely wife, Lady Guanita Strangford, made of the biggest emerald ever witnessed in Akoros. He made such a big deal out of it, and insisted so much that she wears it to every event, that the huge gem came to be known as the Lady Guanita Emerald. Therefore, come the second wife, Lady Marissa Strangford, some years later, a new necklace had to be ordered, and even upped - to two emeralds - as the new wife would not be content with any less. Couple more wives later, the current Lady Wilhelmina Strangford is the proud owner of a necklace of four such gems, the final installment in a series which is now referred to, with a strategic renaming trick, as the Lady Strangford Emeralds. And then, one day, the young and impetuous Wilhelmina made a huge mistake - secure and haughty in her new position, she publicly mocked the original Lady Strangford. Now Guanita is furious, Guanita wants revenge - she wants Wilhelmina ridiculed, humbled - Lord Strangford a laughing stock and angry at his new wife - she wants the very emeralds of the haughty little Wilhelmina Strangford, stripped away from her, together with her stupid little pride. And with her lavish birthday party upcoming, there is sure to be many opportunities towards that. What does she offer, then? She is not stupid, the original Lady Strangford. Nor poor. She offers more money than you will ever see in a lifetime.
