Come make your own piece of leather armour! This workshop is open for anyone regardless of the previous experience with leatherworking, and step-by-step guidance will be provided to all participants who desire so. In addition to getting to make your wet formed piece of armour, a few demonstrations on fundamental leather hardening techniques such as wax-hardening and boiling and tips for the interested will be provided. Whether you’re a seasoned leatherworker or a complete stranger just interested in the medium, this workshop is for you.
Material free for the workshop is 10 € for one small leather item such as a demigauntlet or a bracer, or 20 € for a pair. You can also participate free of charge and experiment with pieces of scrap leather.
The workshop is held by Juhani "Nahkajuhani" Salonen, a former professional leather armourer and author of the book "Hardened leather and related materials - An armourer's guide" (2023).
