Between Production Lines is a larp about the conflicting nature of placing human beings in rational, mechanised, capitalist systems. Players will be taking on the roles of employees of a children's book factory, assigned with a new project to create. The game will focus on chaotic bureaucracy, making a creative project together, and, most importantly, human nature and emotions.
The setting is a capitalist utopia of an industrial production line, yet a production line of a very emotional and creative process of creating children’s books. All characters are somehow involved in the creative process, but are essentially enacting the cogs of the system. The characters are known as serial numbers rather than names, with the social hierarchies of the context being based on things like productivity and cost efficiency. The context has made emotions taboo: it pushes the characters to be as rational and objective as possible, yet human nature emerges to push back with emotions and subjective experiences. Played in three acts, the larp will allow characters to slowly begin discovering and interacting with emotions individually and communally.
Characters will be workshopped together before the game and no props are necessary to take part. All characters will be non-gendered.
Content Warnings: The larp will focus on rediscovering emotions and relationships, with some emotional suppression. Hence strong emotions are likely to be a part of the game. There will also be conflicting and chaotic bureaucracy, which some people may find stressful. Everything will be workshopped and there will be lots of time for calibration.
Please note that the larp will involve some crafts/art-making. Absolutely no skills are required and you can choose how much you interact with this part of the larp.
