All that is between you and the content of the treasure chest is a padlock.
Lock-picking is the practice of unlocking a lock by manipulating the components of the lock device without the original key. The workshop will teach the basic methods of lock-picking and lock bypassing. The arranger will provide practice pin tumbler locks and borrow lock picks for all workshop participants. The workshop will include history and a brief introduction to different lock types and pick methods. Most of the workshop time will be spent practicing lock-picking together with the instructor. Lock-picking requires fine motor skills and use of both hands.
The workshop is the same as last year, however hopefully the presentation has slightly improved.
Note: Although lock-picking can be associated with criminal intent, it is an essential skill for the legitimate profession of locksmithing, and is also pursued by law-abiding citizens as a useful skill to learn, or simply as a hobby (locksport).
